Point Shapes Recommended for Excavators
SYL – Standard, general purpose shape for excavator applications. Wears sharp for excellent penetration during entire point life. Center rib adds strength and extra wear metal for longer life.
RYL – Standard rock tooth for optimum system strength in tough applications. Excellent heavy duty alternative to the popular SYL design.
SDX – Heavy duty chisel shape for moderate penetration and wear metal, as well as excellent strength. Ideal for tough applications that need both wear metal and penetration.
SHV – Extra heavy duty shape for extreme applications requiring optimum strength and wear metal. Unique blade shape puts wear metal to the outside of the point to cut clearance for the side of the bucket and maintain an excellent wear profile for the life of the point.
VY/TVY – Pick style shapes for excellent penetration. Ideal for frost, shale, slate and other hard to penetrate materials. The VY is for the center positions and the TVY is for the corners to cut clearance for the side of the bucket. In penetration applications where additional strength is of primary concern or full machine power is used, pick style shapes are also offered in heavy-duty versions sizes V29-V59.
FLARE – Sharp flared bit for general purpose clean up. Excellent for trench bottoms and foundation excavations.
TYLCE – Special non-twist point for use in continuous edge applications. When a blade is welded to these points, removal of the blade assembly is possible without twisting the points off. Can also be used on front end loaders.
Point Shapes Recommended for Loaders
TYL – Standard, general purpose shape for loader applications. Provides flush cut with flushmount adapters for smooth quarry floors or foundation excavations.
AD – Heavy duty shape for moderate penetration and wear metal, as well as excellent strength. Ideal for tough applications that need both wear metal and penetration. Popular in tough quarry applications.
ADH – Similar design of the popular AD point shape with additional material added to the bottom wear shoe. Provides the same penetration but with additional wear life. Excellent for maintaining a smooth quarry floor.
AR – Tough abrasion shape for applications requiring excellent wear metal and strength. Large wear shoe provides protection for the bucket bottom.
ARH – XHD abrasion tooth for hot slag or severe abrasion applications. Provides maximum wear metal and strength.
