One of the most severe applications for buckets and tooth systems is "HOT SLAG".
Slag is a byproduct of metal smelting (which the temperatures can go as high as 3000 degrees in some smelters) that actually has many uses. It appears in concrete, aggregate road materials, as ballast, and is sometimes used as a component of fertilizer. Slag represents undesired impurities in the metals, which float to the top during the smelting process. When the metal is smelted to satisfaction, the slag is skimmed from the top and disposed of in a slag heap to be transferred by loaders with teeth to an ageing area for processing.
ESCO's Ultralok Tooth System has the specialized point profiles and lock options to provide excellent performance in hot slag. The reliability of ESCO tooth systems and superior mechanical properties of their premium alloys make the Ultralok system the best choice. The result is increased productivity, reduced maintenance, and less chance of unplanned downtime.
Each point ships with the unique weld-in locking system or an option is the NEW Bolt-in lock to ensure maximum point retention in even the harshest conditions. The Ultralok hot slag offering provides excellent wear life and is available for 7 to 12 yard class wheel loaders.
Three styles available in Hot Slag: AH/AHS (Abrasion Point), APH (Abrasion-Penetration Point), and CH (Chisel Point) in the sizes U40 thru U60.
