The patented Clamp
portion of the Compactor has been used
with backhoe mounted air hammers for
years and is well proven. It has two
10" long Bearing Bars which contact
the underside of the bucket. The upper
portion has an element with opposing
Bearing Bars and it moves in a vertical
slot and has enough ability to rotate to
compensate for variation in bucket
thicknesses at the contact points. There
is a built-in handle for tightening the
Clamp and a Pin Lock to prevent
loosening. The Compactor has two sealed,
self-aligning ball bearings, each rated
at over 11,000 lbs. working load.
Use on backhoes or
loaders that can apply a downward force
of up to 15,000 lbs. should be
satisfactory, however, in rocky fill
where one bearing might frequently be
subjected to the full force, an 11,000
lbs. limit should be used. The Bearings
are at each end of the Axle.
Keep in mind the fact
that the weight any
tractor-loader-backhoe, or loader, may
apply to the Compactor is probably only
in the range of 40% to 60% of the
machines gross weight.
