Kwik-Lok Wear Protection

The Key to cost Effective Production

Mobile Equipment

Kwik-Lok wear systems provide an effective wear solution for buckets used on mobile equipment. Runners have been successfully used to protect high wear areas on dragline, shovel dipper, face shovel, excavator, and loader buckets. They have also been used in truck beds, on dozer arms, and under log loading forks. Wear runners can be used most anywhere there is a need for long lasting, reliable, quick-change wear protection.

Stationary Equipment

Wear runners are particularly effective in crushing and processing plants where access, confined space, and lack of crane service make lightweight runners a safer, more cost effective solution. Runners have been successfully used to protect high wear areas under crushers, in chutes, feeders, transfer points, strike plates - all around the plant.

Semi-mechanical Kwik-Lok System

The original Kwik-Lok system was a semi-mechanical system that utilized a weld-on stop block to hold the runner in place. With the introduction of Kwik-Lok II wear protection, the original Kwik-Lok system continues to be used in selected applications.

  • Runners are cast ESCO® alloy 12S, a typical 514 BHN steel, for long life and durability
  • Alloy 12S runners can last up to five times longer than plate steel
  • Alloy 35S runners are available in select sizes for even longer wear life in applications with low impact
  • Runners are ready to use as delivered - no material prep or special uptime
  • Weld on stops for retention
  • Hot Slag
Semi-mechanical Kwik-Lok runners are ideally suited for fighting abrasion in hot slag. The weld-on stop block eliminates the use for rubber, while still giving you the benefits of ESCO alloy 12S wear protection.

    Underwater Dredge
The semi-mechanical Kwik-Lok system is quicker to change than wear plate, lasts longer, and the weld-on stop block provides take-up each time a runner is changed.Underwater Dredge

    Crushing and Processing Plants
Kwik-Lok wear protection is ideally suited for applications where gravity holds the runner on the base and there is no reverse load trying to push the runner off the base. In some applications th seeming-mechanical Kwik-Lok system becomes fully mechanical (no weld-on stop or lock is needed).

In some applications, if a lock is no needed, a solid runner (no lock slot) can provide additional wear protection.

Kwik Lok II Three-piece Wear Protection System

    Base
Permanently attached base with dovetails, securely holds wear runner in place.

    Runner
Kwik-Lok II wear runners provide surface-abrasion protection for a wide variety of applications on both flat and curved surfaces.

    Lock
One-piece lock device consisting of a steel and polymer laminate keeps the cast wear runner from backing off the dovetails.

    Features and Benefits

    Versatile
  • Three system sizes, and four basic runner styles provide protection for a wide variety of applications
  • A single wear runner can be installed to protect a "hot spot" of high wear, or multiple runners can be used to cover an entire surface

    Safer & Easier

  • Simple one-piece lock makes installation and removal quick and easy, without special tools
  • No positioning of large wear plates, arc splatter, or welding fumes to change-out runners
  • Lightweight runners reduce the risk of injury and don't require a crane

    Long Lasting

  • Runners are cast in ESCO alloy 12S, a typical 514BHN steel, for long life and durability up to five times longer than plate steel.
  • Alloy 35S runners are available in select sizes for even longer wear life in applications with low impact
  • Kwik-Lok II runners are reversible for extended life in applications with uneven wear

    Less Maintenance, More Machine Uptime

  • Runners are ready to use as delivered-no material prep or special handling no arcing, welding or burning off bolt heads or cutting plate to change Kwik-Lok II runners
  • Once the base is installed, a runner can be changed out in just a few minutes in the field, saving a trip to the shop
  • Wear runners can be reversed, rotated to a new position, or replaced in a few minutes
  • Easy to change runners make it possible to combine wear maintenance with machine maintenance
